Flooded Cataract

Steph and I made our maiden trip (alright..... my maiden trip.) back to Launceston 2 weeks ago for Bernice's and Sherry's convocation ceremony.

It was a wonderful experience seeing my dear fellow housemates graduating. As a matter of fact, it did bring back some memories of not so distant ago (oh well.. I just graduated last year).
We had a wonderful lunch together with our friends, Bernice's family and Sherry's mum at the foodhall. It was nice catching up with Andrea (International Students Adviser) too and was recommended by her to visit the Cataract Gorge.

Steph and I picked up Joanne from her place and made our way to the gorge. The journey alone itself was amazing. Never had I experienced such traffic jam in Launceston before. The way up the hill was a 'climb' as we finally made our way up. The two-way traffic made it kind of interesting as exiting cars were passing their parking vouchers to entering cars. I was pretty delighted as I get to save up on parking fee that day. :P

Just before I continue to elaborate on my story.......

Can you remember the serenity of Cataract Gorge??? (featured in Feb 2007).

Anyway, Here's a picture to recall your senses.
(Take note of the tree branches on the left)

Here's the awesome sight we experienced that day......

Son: "Daddy! Daddy! I will like to go to the playground".
Dad: "I'm afraid not...... son...."

You would have imagined the locals looking very distraught and upset that their beautiful gorge has been destroyed.
Interestingly, most of them were chirping away, taking pictures and bringing their kids and dogs to this "wild wild wet".
It was indeed a phenomena to behold..
