The Great Christmas Escapade

The Great Christmas Escapade.
Time flies.. Tonight is the last night of our performance. Show starts at 9pm and 11pm.
The past two nights were miracles. It had been raining for the past weeks and the weather forecaster predicted that the rain will continue to pour every evening and will only cease on friday. Chances of being able to perform seems slim, but hope and faith abound in the air as God's children gathered together for battle through prayer. Nothing can stop God's work and His purposes. True enough, the rain ceased few hours before the play on Wednesday. It was a cloudless night for Wednesday's performance. Thursday came and called for greater faith, the sky was dark and gloomy. Petition to God for the rain to stop were made as His children put up their request in prayers. The sun began to show her face as the rain subsided. Our first performance was enhanced by a slight drizzle and it was amazing to see how the rain begin to increase in intensity during the Grand finale. Most of all, it was amazing to see how our make-up were preserved inspite of the heavy rain.

I am what I am

I am what I am

I know I can stand up for my own rights
even to the extend of a fight.

I will not compromise
not to the standards of this world.

I desire to walk in the will of the Lord
not to be hinder by gossips or discouragements at all.

I am concern over God's opinion on me and I must not feed on men's praise.

I want to overcome my fear, my nervousness and my illness.

I know the Lord will provide a way out either in this world or the other.

I will wait for His timing and walk according to his guidance.

I know I'm in the process of the Lord's make-over.

XYQ Christmas Party

We had our XYQ Christmas Party last night and the theme of the night was "Hollywood Glamour". It was an exciting night, seeing all the young guys and gals dressed up in their formal wear. It was also a night of appreciation to our youth pastor, youth president and youth advisers. On top of that, it was also the graduation night for our leader apprentices. Congrats to all the new XYQ leaders. May God give you a fervent spirit and a loving heart to serve Him and His people.

To top up the event, Chun How was nominated as best dress and came in 3rd runner up while Stephanie won the best dress (female). I am really proud of her, not just because she took after me but rather she did it out of her uniqueness.

Well...Here's a photo of Stephy. (I know she is going to scream about this photo).

Driving Test

Yah.. I remember I am suppose to post more often..
I took my driving test today for the first time and the result was that I flunk it. I somehow expected this outcome though I really wanted to testify about it badly. I know that if I pass this first time, I will be able to glorify God totally. On top of the basic lessons I had, I had an extra of 16 revisions. (this is alot) Out of the 16 revisions, I did not pass a single trial test. Which means, if I pass this time round, it is going to be a miracle. So I was preparing to testify.."For me to drive, is to die and to pass is Christ." But in the end, I couldn't say this since I have not pass yet. Anyway, I believe that God has a purpose and plan for each and everyone of us. I will not be able to take it in Singapore anymore, since I am leaving for studies next Feb and the test available test date is in March. I tried to appeal, but to no avail.
I have decided that I will sit for my driving test in Australia.

Driving

This week has been a tremendously busy week..I have driving lessons every day (cause the TP test is this coming friday) To be honest, I am rather apprehensive about the practical test. I have never pass a single trial test before inspite of the many lessons. All the instructors find me an extremely hardworking student since I literally mug my way through revisions every week. Yes.. I am paying quite alot for it. All the instructors have the same word for me and I seems to make the same mistakes over and over again, despite my conscious effort of changing it. I just don't seem to get it right. Anyway, I have been praying real hard, even during the drive. 2 more days to the test and one more practise to go. I can't wait. This test is crucial since I wouldn't have enough time for a re-test. I will be going overseas for studies next Feb and the next available test date will probably be way over that. Should I have listen to my dad advice of taking "Auto" lessons instead of "Manual"? Should I take my test in Australia instead? Anyway, no point for the questions, since the day is already near.
To side track abit... Guess who I saw at the driving centre today? I saw my BMT PC.. LT Daniel Lau. It was a pleasent surprise. He couldn't really recognize me, perhaps due to drastic change in hair style as compared to the ones he saw in BMT. Everyone was botak (Bald-headed then). He looks abit dreamy and lost. He said that he was there to meet his driving instructor. We bid each other farewell and went our own way. Its really cool to see someone you know, especially someone who made an impact in your life. It seems just like yesterday. Those words he said to me. " Myself and on behalf on all the other commanders, I will like to thank you for making our life meaningful. Its' people like you and clayton and even Mingwei that makes our life and time worthwhile." Did he really mean it? Haha. Whatever.. I take that and its already over.

Oh well

Oh well... I know that the blogs are pretty hard to read and I have not been blogging much. But there aren't really any experts out there that can help me.. Even Ryan whom I deem as "expert" in blog-creating, fail to help me. So disappointing!
Anyway, life has been really exciting thus far. I am gaining satisfaction from my job, especially so when the trainers commended me for all the jobs well done. Praise God for the favour that He had bestowed upon me. I am learning to count my blessings day by day. Even at times when I feel that life can be pretty tough with those physical ailments coming up, I know I have a Saviour that can not only empathize but also remove them.
Feeling much better now.. I was down with a wierd problem on my neck recently. It started of as a strain-like thing. No pain but really uncomfortable. The strain slowly became a hassle and affected my breathing. Being asthmatic, I can easily tell the difference between asthma and what's not. NO!! I am not going to blame it on the haze. Well.. I got the cell to pray for me last night. They had a practical session with their newly-learned practical skills from Toronto. And yes.. ... I was the test model.. For the non-science people, test model is what you test on and not necessary a super model. The lab mice is a form of test model. Anyway back to topic, I was the test-model and the cell members laid hands on me as they prayed for God's kingdom and will to be done.. And yes!! It worked! I am healed. Not a single sign of breathlessness today, though I can still feel a little tightness on my neck. Praise God for His healing works!

Prawn Fishing

Went Prawn Fishing yesterday...... I was abit reluctant at first since it is going to cost me $14.50 an hour. I am unsure about my skills in prawn fishing. Nevertheless I went ahead. The man told me that if I use the "sand worm", I will get a good catch from it. However the "sand worm" comes in a tub form and it will cost me $4.00. I was not willing to pay $4 for a tub of worms since I will only be fishing for 1 hour. I requested for 1 worm but the man budge not. I took my share of fish cake (prawn bait) and went on my way. Even before I could hook the fish cake up, the man came and give me a super long worm.. :p Yeah!! He even taught me how to hook the worm. After a while, another indian man came long and taught me further. After a short and exciting 1 hour.. I caught 8 prawns. When the hour is up, I retrieved my net cage and saw the last prawn escaping from the hole found at the bottom of the cage. I was dumb folded. I went to the man and requested for a refund. He refused. He said that I choose the net cage by myself which is of course not the truth. I looked at him and then look at all the other fisher men and exclaimed out loud.. " You gave me a cage with holes and now all the prawns gone.... How?"
One old uncle spoke up for me and ask him to give me back the number of prawns I caught. I caught 8 and was expecting 8 in return. The man took out a large net and was netting the pond for more prawns. Out of the 8 prawns that he netted, one of them was already dead. I requested or a change but he refused saying that it is ok to have a dead prawn and that the pond has no more prawns. He then mocked at me by saying that since I do not want the prawn, he will feed them to his son. I was abit confused by his statement at first before realizing that he was actually referring to all the huge fish in the net cage. I insisted that he returns me the 1 prawn and refused to move. My sister (Stephanie) looked at me and asked me what can I do if the man refused to give in. I told her that I will stand beside the cashier box and not move. I recall the parable in Luke.
"Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.'
7"Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' 8I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness[
e] he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

True enough, the man finally relented and instructed his friend to catch 1 more prawn for me. On our way back, we saw 2 cute kids playing around with their make-shift rod (using a stick and some strings) The boy seeing me walking away started shouting "Bye Bye Kor Kok" continously". Lo' and behold.. I heard he shouting "Aunty Bye Bye".. I thought my ears were playing a trick on me. I stop and inch my ear towards the sound. "Aunty Bye Bye".. I was about to asked my dad to reaffirm what I heard. Even before I could, he turned around and laughed at my sister, saying that the kids were calling her aunty. Both of us burst out laughing ( which is of course my dad and myself and definitely not my sister). I couldn't laugh in a more hysterical and sissy way than this. The constant greeting by the 2 kids towards my sister kept on ringing in the background even though both my dad and I were already laughing uncontrollably.
While waiting for Lester and Co. to arrive, I saw Michelle Chia. She looks really glamourous and pretty. I was star-struck.. haha. Lester came and took his chance at prawn fishing. He took home 6 prawns and caught one small-sized tilapia, which of course he did not bring back.

Unequally Yoke

I was talking to one of the female church elder that day. I posed her the question on whether her husband has received Christ or not? She looked at me and then gave me a "depressed" NO!

Female elder: Well........ You know that famous phrase on being unequally yoke??? Its very true you know!

Me: Really?? !!

Female elder: Yes!! You know when you first fall in love.. You keep telling yourself that you will win the soul for the Lord! But after getting married .. ... its' very hard you know?

Me: Hmmm.. ya

Female elder: You will face alot of problem regarding family issues.. You and your spouse might have very different opinions towards life. Example..Pre-marital Sex issues.. My husband has a very egoistic character and has his own views on worldly issues.. This is very hard on our children.

Me: Yah.. !! I agree with you.

Well.. Lesson learnt.. I thank God for bringing classic examples into my life to learn about biblical values. I thank God for warning us before hand so that we will not need to go through all the troubling issues of being unequally yoke with your spouse. I believe I can spend more effective time on other issues.

Crazy Taxi Ride

I had a crazy Taxi ride on my way home from cell today. The air con was down, the windows were not open, the driver was swivering his steering wheel left and right continously. I felt like I am sitting in a boat. I felt sick and could empathize with my driving instructor now. LOL! Especially so when I had experienced an amplified version of my common mistakes made during my driving lessons.

I am having my driving lesson tomorrow morning.. or rather today morning.. since its already 12:43am. Well.. ... Got to improve..! Lord help me !!

Blessed Lord

The Lord had blessed me with a job! Well, I can't disclose much over here but I must say that I am enjoying and learning much from it. Without a doubt, this is definitely another blessing I am receiving from the Lord. Sadly, I am not going to disclose much for the sake of the employer. I guess there isn't anything wrong with it, but it's better not broadcast unless people specifically ask. Thank you Lord for blessing me with a job that is flexible, interesting, challenging, friendly and reasonably well-paid.
Thank you Lord!

Bon Jour'.. Calling from French School

I received a call from Sister Mei-I yesterday morning. She asked whether I can help out at the french school. I was told that they were lack of manpower and needed help. I thought it must be pretty cool helping out in a cookhouse. I bathed, changed and set off to my destination, "Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3".
Upon reaching, I gave Sis. Mei-I a call and was given the directions towards the school. The school stand out in the midst of all the industrial buildings. Sis. Mei-I was there to welcome me as I made my way to exchange for a visitor pass. I was then bought to the kitchen where all the action takes place. I thought to myself how cool.!! Which vegetable shall I cut? which meat to marinate? Where are the spices?
The boss came and directed me to help another C.A (Chef Assistant) This means I am a C.A.A (Chef assistant's assistant) How nice!!!! My first task was to sleep the floor, next to pour the rubbish, next to transport the used utensils, next to mop the floor, next to wash the utensils, next to collect the dishes and sort out the utensils. By then, I was shacked and trying to curb the murmuring spirit within me. The verse" Do it as unto the Lord" kept flashing across my mind. I purposed in my heart not to murmur. I carried on even though my back was aching like an old lady. I looked at the old indian lady beside me, hammering her back. What the heck! I can't be in a worse state than her, if she can do it why can't I? I carried on.
After having french cuisine for lunch, I carried on with work. Started by arranging and stacking up cups, followed by arranging trays, carried some tables, refill the water for the food warmer and called it a day. I received my pay for a day's work. $36 !! This much for a day of work!! The boss was nice enough to pay me $6/hr instead of $5.50 due to the last minute arrangement. I got my dad to fetch me. Thanks dad! Well.. What a day! I learnt alot from it. Thank you Lord!

MCC

MCC aka. Medical Classification Centre is my first point of contact with the army. Coincidentally, it happens to be my last too. After my training as a medic in SMM, I was posted to CMPB; CcoDTT. (Defence Technology Tower) I was given the reason that since I am a medic, I would most likely be found useful at MCC instead. I was then sent on a permanent attachment to MCC instead. This might shock most people but my initial experience in MCC was a horrible one. Though there were so many stories and incidents in-between. I wouldn't mentioned anything here, lest it stirs up some "Shit". I am glad that everything was resolved and now that I am about to ORD in a peaceful state of mind. I would like to thank all my colleagues for the invaluable lessons learnt and for the friendship that they had given to me.
I took photos with some of my colleagues this week. I would like to show my appreciation to Nasri for being my camera man that day. Great job! By the way, you look really photogenic and natural in the photos.

BBQ at East Coast

Went BBQ at East Coast Park yesterday. It was a bbq supposedly meant for my ORD farewell. However it ended up as a birthday celebration for KK. And Yes.. I am glad that the attention was shifted to him. Boy! I was glad.. KK got sabo by Jeslin with a whipped-cream pie on his face. (Woman are indeed the most vicious creature on earth... or are they not?)
The food were wonderfully prepared by Nasri. He did a great job.. The sambal sauce was superb! So were the chicken wings.. Many thanks to Jeslin for paying the food. It must have cost her alot. She is indeed a generous woman with people at heart.
On my way back on a cab, I ministered to the Taxi driver. I realized that he is a Christian. Instead of telling me that he is a believer. He started correcting me on my beliefs and was finding ways to contradict my statements. I could sense that this man lacks love though he brought up certain doctrinal stuff. I didn't want to argue with him and could sense pride over-flowing from his words. I questioned him about the church he is attending. He said that he goes from church to church occasionally but the current church he is attending is Salvation Army. He shared that he is bought up in a methodist family. I reached my place and told him that it was nice chatting with him. Gave him my well-wishes and left. I wonder what this man is doing this sunday morning..?

Futile Fishing Trip

Went fishing on Thursday with Liang. It was a beautiful day with beautiful weather. My dad came and bought along a new rod and reel in the afternoon. Liang's fishing mentor came and caught a grouper within 30 minutes. I was encouraged and continued trying but to no avail. I finally call it a day at 6.45pm (15 minutes before the end of the session) I had to rush to the airport to send Clayton off. My good friend, infact the friend whom I know the longest till date.
Clay is my K2 classmate. We meet during tuition at Mavis Tutorial centre. During secondary school, we were classmates for 5 years. Then he went to Ngee Ann Poly to do Biomedical while I went to Temasek Polytechnic and did Biotechnology. After being enlisted into the army, we end up as section mates (Yes.. God knows the reason why!) We end up becoming "medic" as a vocation. Now that both of us have ORDed. He is pursuing his studies at UK while I will be going to Australia. What's next?

I really have no idea but I am so excited. So excited on what God is going to do next! Lord! Thank you for such an interesting life!

Fishing Not Justified

Went fishing at Pasir Ris pond with Lester today.
We started at 9.30am and continued for 5 hours.
We caught nothing.
My dad came and took over.
Within 15 minutes !!!! He got a grouper that is around 3-4kg. OMG!!!
I can't believe it but nevertheless I am happy.
I am thinking of Sweet and sour fish, Fish with salted bean sauce, Deep fried fish fillet and more.

All in all, I enjoyed myself today. I enjoyed my tan.
